Revitalizing Historic Treasures
Throughout Texas there are numerous antique farmhouses
that have fallen into disrepair. In areas that saw the
earliest pioneer settlement, there remain a few rare log
structures. These historic primitive treasures were
often later converted to barns or other functional
outbuildings and hidden by a cloak of unconcern. Old
storefronts and other historic commercial buildings, and
old churches also sometimes abandoned. Many have been
destroyed by shortsighted owners or developers. In
addition to their obvious historic value, these special
buildings can become uniquely valuable real estate to
the cautious and discriminating buyer.
Round Top
Restoration has long specialized in finding, purchasing,
moving and restoring such buildings. We know how to
improve such structures, complete with all the modern
conveniences, without damaging their architectural
integrity. It's an art and a science...and it can be a
good value!
There is
nothing more exciting than watching a distressed old
colonial or Victorian dwelling recover its former
grandeur. Nothing says "home" more eloquently than a
cozy farmhouse or log cabin that has been lovingly
restored. The unique character and patina of the old
wooden structures, the sometimes primitive, sometimes
ornate architecture of antique buildings give them a
special feeling unmatched by contemporary structures.
However, the construction process that performs this
miracle is a specialized one. The same techniques that a
new construction builder uses to ply his trade often do
not apply to this type of work. The materials,
subcontractors, methods and skills necessary to
accomplish a quality restoration are very different. |
